Beautrium Kobe, located in the old western district of Kobe, takes up residence in a building that was constructed in the early 20th century. This building was constructed to fit both the stylistic and housing regulations while maintaining the historical integrity of the district. When you walk through it’s classical entrance, you are met with an open courtyard that illuminates the surrounding corridors. Glass walls partition the shop and the greenery of the public courtyard, extending its ambience from once space to another, by having colors and textures intertwine together as one. By doing this I wanted to create an environment that would have patrons have their conscious pulled out into that open space, and by doing so I believe that I have been able to construct a space with an open feel, physically and metaphysically. I have also been particular with its sound system to better enhance the experience
